Herttoniemi control centre building
A building is being constructed adjoining Herttoniemi metro station which will be home to metro traffic control, technical real estate monitoring, security surveillance, break and other facilities for bus drivers at the terminal and a base for metro guards.
The total gross area is 3,835 m². The construction work will be finished autumn 2011 and the building is taken into use year 2012.
Developing the metro depot
Extending the metro to Espoo and Sipoo requires making provision for a maximum of an addi-tional 25 four-carriage train units. The intention is for maintenance and repairs to the train units and stabling of almost the entire rolling stock to take place at the existing metro depot, whose repair and stabling premises thus have to be extended and modified to meet the demands of the larger fleet.
The current main building of the metro depot, repair workshop and stabling shed were largely built in 1980, so it makes sense to carry out the necessary renovation work in combination with the extension and modification.
The intention is to complete the project in six phases between summer 2010 and spring 2014 at an estimated cost of approximately EUR 58 million.
Renovation of the long escalators at the Hakaniemi metro station
This project concerns modernisation of the three long escalators between the platform level and the ticket hall. The northern ticket hall end of the station was done year 2010 and the southern end is under construction year 2011.
Suomenlinna goods ferry terminal at Katajanokka
The existing terminal building will be demolished and a new 310 m2 terminal built in its place. Work nearby, i.e. planting, surfaces, fencing and lighting cover 4,500 m2.
The aim is to complete the project during 2011 at an estimated cost of EUR 1,730,000.
