In the event of an accident or emergency, all people living in Helsinki should primarily seek help from their local health station, open from Monday to Friday, 08.00-16.00.
Outside health station operating hours, adults in urgent need of medical treatment should go to the Haartman or Malmi hospitals’ Emergency Health Centre. Children younger than 15 years of age should go to the Emergency Health Centre at the Lastenklinikka hospital.
Adults requiring urgent medical care at night (22:00–08:00) should turn to the Haartman or Malmi Hospitals’ Emergency Departments.
Children requiring urgent medical care at night (22:00–08:00) should be taken to the Emergency Department of HUCH Lastenklinikka, Stenbäckinkatu 11, phone (+358 9) 10023 or (+358 9) 4711 (switchboard).
Should you need advice on a condition, call the health service hotline at (+358 9) 10023, which provides advice and information on conditions, care and medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at the price of a regular phone call.
In case of serious acute illness, accident or other emergency requiring ambulance service, call 112 – the emergency phone number that works in all EU countries. You should only dial 112 in urgent, genuine cases of emergency. The Alarm Centre will assess the situation and either arrange for help or provide information on where the patient should go for medical care.
