The Public Works Department is responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of streets and parks in Helsinki as well as parking control. The planning, construction and commissioning of city premises are also part of the duties.
It is our aim to construct a durable, beautiful and functional city to meet the needs of the inhabitants, companies and the capital city.
The City of Helsinki is an entrepreneur as intended in section 8 c subsection 1 of the Finnish value added tax act. A reverse charge mechanism for value added tax will be applied to the Public Works Department of the City of Helsinki as buyer of construction services.
