| Streets and parks in Helsinki are planned in cooperation with various departments and agencies, inhabitants and other interested parties. The City Planning Department prepares plans, which are approved by the City Council. Street and park plans are based on approved district plans, which contain precise descriptions on land use principles in for example a particular district or part of town. The drawing up of street and park plans is the responsibility of the PWD Street and Park Division. The plans are approved by the Public Works Committee. It is possible to participate in the planning by contacting the planners, by participating in the presentation of drafts or by replying to questionnaires sent to inhabitants.
