The sports departments of the cities of Helsinki and Espoo have cooperated with Helsinki's Environment Department to release a new archipelago guide with expanded content and updated information.

The guide is now available in Finnish, Swedish and English.
The revamped archipelago guide provides a hefty package of information on leisure islands open to boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts. Among other things, it details the location of the unique outdoor recreation islands of Helsinki and Espoo as well as the range of services on offer at each island. Information about the natural environment of the archipelago is also provided.

The leisure islands that lie off Helsinki and Espoo are accessible also to citizens who do not own boats. Waterborne public transport routes have been developed substantially in recent years, and 17 of these routes will transport passengers to different outdoor recreation islands in summer 2010.
