Those young people in Helsinki, who have completed their comprehensive school education but have not been admitted to an upper secondary school or to vocational education and training, are provided with additional comprehensive school education with a scope of one extra school year. This education is provided in 10th forms. Young people may apply for additional education straight from comprehensive school or within one year of receiving the comprehensive school leaving certificate.
The objectives of additional education are
- to improve opportunities for further education
- to provide information on working life, education and training
- to help pupils choose a place in further education and a career.
Mava training
Training prepairing immigrants for basic vocational education (Mava training) is offered in alla Helsinki City Vocational Colleges: More information: Prepatory training for basic vocational education.
Vocational start courses
Vocational start courses introduce and prepare comprehensive school students for basic vocational training.
