Culture, Application for Development Grant

Development grants are for registered arts and cultural institutions and organisations based in Helsinki for development projects that respond to an actual development need in the cultural sector.

Process:

Applications are due by 28.8.2020 at 16.00.

The applicant will be informed of the decision by mail.

An account of the use of the grant must be given with evaluation form for the development grants by the date stated in the grant decision.

Processing time:

The decisions about Development Grants will be informed in November-December.

Expiration date:

An application which has been sent is valid until a decision is made. Insufficient and faulty applications will be disallowed.

Prerequisites:

Development grants starting from 1 June 2017
- for registered arts and cultural institutions and organisations based in Helsinki
- for development projects that respond to an actual development need in the cultural sector, e.g. when no similar activities exist in the city, such as cultural centres regionally
- the project will generate benefits for the cultural scene beyond the party implementing the project
- the project supports the council strategy and cultural policy objectives of the city
- activities receiving grants include
- cooperation networks
- experiments and new working methods (e.g. new operating models, concepts, new kinds of space solutions)
- projects with the objective of cultural and artistic reform and development
- competence development projects

Please note that in addition to the general application form, each applicant should complete the relevant supplementary form.

The cultural policy development activities emphasised in 2017-2018 include:
- Helsinki Model activities as well as the regional availability of art and culture
- Cultural work with the elderly
- Basic education in the arts
Other development projects that meet the evaluation criteria may also be supported based on discretion.
- The grant may be awarded for 1-3 years
