Maternity and child health work

There are approximately 20 maternity and child health clinics in Helsinki, and you can choose to visit the one that suits you and your family best. All the clinics provide both maternity and child health services.

At the maternity clinic, we monitor and support the health and well-being of the expectant mother, foetus and newborn baby. We support parents in changes in life following childbirth.

At the child health clinic, we monitor and support the growth and development of children under school age and discuss any questions concerning the family. From the child health clinic, the child gets vaccines against severe diseases in accordance with the national vaccination programme.

The clinic staff includes public health nurses and doctors. We cooperate with other social and health care professionals.

Using the maternity and child health clinic services is voluntary. The service is free of charge.

Prerequisites:

The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.
