Environmental education

Courses organized by the Helsinki Metropolitan Area nature centres and nature schools are aimed at the area¿s teachers, daycare centre personnel, other educators and residents.

The courses give attendees skills for taking children and young people out to nature and means to tackle everyday environmental matters in education. Most of the courses are free of charge. Educators and others can join the courses at any metropolitan area municipality irrespective of their home community.

The Harakka Island off the Kaivopuisto Park shoreline offers a splendid environment for nature and Baltic Sea courses for educators. The carbon neutral Harakka also provides inspiring education in climate change, carbon footprints, energy saving and renewable energy.
