Employment obligation

Obligation employment is a statutory service, which obligates the city under certain conditions to offer work to unemployed job seekers aged over 57, whose unemployment allowance has run out. The TE Office notifies their customers of their right to obligation employment and guides them to the City’s obligation employment service. The right to obligation employment is voluntary for unemployed people.

With obligation employment, the City of Helsinki offers a pay subsidy position for six months in the City’s divisions or public enterprises. The working hours and salary meet the requirements of the collective agreement, i.e. standard working hours and task-based salary. With the obligation employment, the work requirement will be met again.
