Helsinki TYP, youth services

The TYP service is a multidisciplinary joint service for the promotion of employment, formed by the City of Helsinki, Uusimaa TE Office and Kela. TE Office experts, the City’s social workers, career counsellors and occupational health nurses, as well as Kela’s employees together work, assess and organise the young person services to help start studies or work. The youth TYP service is intended for young people under 30 who need close, personal support in planning their future and whose employment requires the integration of several different services.

TYP services are available with a referral from the TE Office, local social services or Kela for the following groups:

• People who are under 25 and have been unemployed for at least 6 months.
• People who are 25 or older and have been unemployed for at least 12 months.
• People who are under 30 and customers of employment management who need multidisciplinary joint services.

The young person is given their own worker and offered a wide variety of services: personal social work and career guidance, social rehabilitation, public health nurse services, TE Office services and Kela’s rehabilitation services, as well as the opportunity to participate in rehabilitative work activities.

The customers of the TYP service are served in Kamppi at Runeberginkatu 5, at the same premises as the youth career services.
