How and when to apply to basic education in different languages

Here you can find the important dates and instructions on how to apply to basic education in English and bilingual education in different languages in Helsinki.

Admission for free places in grades 1–9

The application period for basic education in English and bilingual education is now closed and aptitute test have been taken. The results were emailed to guardians on Monday 9 August 2021. 

Information on the results will not be provided by phone. Questions concerning the results and admission decisions will be answered by the school principal. See school contact information on the School search page.

The City of Helsinki schools do not take new pupils for English basic education and bilingual Finnish-English education in the autumn semester 2021. Information on the next admissions rounds will be updated on this page during November 2021.

Enquire about a place in grades 7–9 in a few private schools

In addition to Ressu Comprehensive School, the following lower secondary schools organise basic education in English and bilingual Finnish-English education for grades 7–9:
