Ground rules for evening and round-the-clock care

In order to provide the best possible child care and to plan staff work shifts to suit everyone's individual needs, we have established some rules regarding round-the-clock day care:

  • Parents must notify the day care centre of their work shifts or study schedules at their earliest convenience.
  • The child's required care hours for the coming week should be notified no later than by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday of the previous week.
  • The earliest time children can be brought to day care is 5:30 a.m.
  • Children who do not stay overnight must generally be picked up by 9:00 p.m.
  • Children requiring night care must arrive by 9:00 p.m. It is advisable that children under the age of three be brought in by 8:00 p.m.
  • In round-the-clock care, breakfast is served to those children who begin their care hours at 8:30 a.m. or earlier
  • Lunch is served between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
  • A snack is served between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Dinner is served to those children who will stay beyond 6 p.m.
  • Supper is served between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Children can be at the round-the-clock care unit whenever the parents are at work and after night shifts for the length of time that the parents need to sleep.
  • An early education plan is created for each individual child together with their parents.
