The Dark Is My Delight
Music from the Middle Ages until Today

The recorder quartet Bravade takes the audience on an emotional journey starting from the medieval monasteries up until today by combining the well-known Christmas carols with other music pearls perfect for the holiday season.

The quartet is specialized in the Renaissance recorder, and the core repertoire has a focus on female composers. Tonight Hildegard of Bingen, Vittoria Aleotti and Maddalena Casulana will be played.

The sound of the Renaissance recorder works more than well with the organ – the lion part of the pipes of the organ produces sound in a similar way as the recorder. With this “human organ” we now get to hear the famous choral from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

Bravade does also actively perform first performances, and during this concert they will play the German-Finnish composer Sid Hille’s for Bravade composed new piece. In this piece the baroque counterpoint meets influences from jazz and blues.
