Subsidies for organisations that provide recreational activities to children under school age who are not participating in early childhood education

The Education Committee grants subsidies to Helsinki-based organisations that provide daytime recreational activities on weekdays (from 8:00 to 17:00) for children under school age who are not participating in early childhood education.

The organisation subsidies are not intended for supporting the following:

  • Early childhood education
  • Activities that complement and support early childhood education, such as club activities that are considered open activities
  • Religious or political activities
  • Service provisions that have been put out to tender, or that are purchased, or that the City organises through a service voucher

The prerequisites for the subsidy include the following, among others:

  • The organisation has been registered
  • There is evidence of the operations having been ongoing for a year, at the minimum
  • The activities are aimed at Helsinki residents

The application must include a brief description of the content of the activities to be subsidised. In addition to this, the application must clearly include the following information:

  • At what time will the activities to be subsidised take place?
  • Number of hours per week
  • Sessions per month in 2020
  • Number of instructors (if the subsidy is sought for instructors’ salary costs)
  • A list of supplies (if the subsidy is sought for supply costs)
  • How many children, on average, will participate in a single session?
