Part-time groups at the daycare centre

The part-time group is suitable for children of families where younger siblings are staying at home or where the parents' work enables the child to have regular, shorter days at daycare. The activities and the group's size are determined, based on the children's ages and number. A lunch will be served to the children at the daycare centre.

A kindergarten teacher is in charge of the group's pedagogic operation. An early childhood education plan will be compiled for each child.

In the part-time group, the child will take part in early childhood education and learn matters in a small group through play, exploration and arts and crafts. Local excursions into nature are part of the group's activities, and other activities include playing games, reading books, singing and doing crafts. The small group is a great place for a child to practice social skills with others. The part-time group also participates in all the events of the daycare centre.

Many various daycare centres around Helsinki offer part-time groups.

More detailed information about the operations and hours of the part-time groups can be requested directly from the daycare centre.

Part-time groups at day care centres provide children with up to five hours of early education per day.

The usual hours are 8:30 am-12:30 pm or 12:00 noon-4:00 pm.
