You are welcome to ask more about the grants at the general briefing for grants for culture on Thu 11 August at 3-5pm. If possible the event will be arranged at Fredriksberg, B-house, Konepajankuja 3.


Arts and culture grants

Project grants​

Project grants for projects taking place during the year 2022 can be applied for during the year 2022. Grants will not be awarded retroactively for dates preceding the application, so be sure to leave the application early enough.​

The preparation and decision-making schedule for Fall 2022:​

  • Applications received by 16:00 on 17 August 2022 will be processed at the culture and library sub-committee meeting on 27 September 2022.​
  • Applications received by 16:00 on 21 September 2022 will be processed at the culture and library sub-committee meeting on 8 November 2022.​
  • Applications received by 16:00 on 26 October 2022 will be processed at the culture and library sub-committee meeting on 8 December 2022. PLEASE NOTE! The last meeting of the year.​

If your project takes place in the first three months of the year 2023, and you wish to receive the decision already by the end of the year 2022, please submit your application by 16:00 on 31 August 2022. Otherwise project grants for the year 2023 can be applied for during the year 2023 according to the preparation and decision-making schedule of that year.​

The office holder's decision-making schedule follows the culture and library sub-committee’s meeting schedule for the most part. The office holder makes the decisions on applications for up to 7,500 euros and where the maximum amount awarded is 5,000 euros.

Operational grants for the year 2023​

Operational grants can be applied for once a year for the following year. The deadline for operational grants for the year 2023 is 16:00 on Wed 31 August 2022. Operational grants will not be awarded to applications submitted after the deadline.​

Multi-year operational grants​

For the four year period 2023-2026 multi-year operational grants can be awarded to Helsinki based cultural operators that belong to the central government subsidies system (VOS) in the fields of performing arts or music. The deadline for multi-year operational grants is 16:00 on Wed 31 August 2022. Operational grants will not be awarded to applications submitted after the deadline.

Grants for basic education in the arts

Grants for basic education in the arts may be applied for once a year for the following year. Applications for 2023 must be submitted by 16:00 on 29 September 2022.

Development grants and Helsinki Model grants

Development grants may typically be applied for once year for the following year. Operators receiving multi-year development grant funding must send an application once a year so that the continuation of their grant can be confirmed. 

The deadline for development grants is 16:00 on Wed 31 August 2022. The same deadline applies to those wishing to confirm their on-going multi-year grant in both the development grants and the Helsinki Model grants.


Recovery grants for arts and culture 2022-2023

The calls for recovery grants are open as follows:

  • Special coronavirus grant 2022: The application period is 13 April–27 April 2022 16:00. Read more

Grants to promote cultural activities for the elderly

The call for applications was open between 10 January until the 11 February 2022. The Culture and Library Sub-committee will decide on the projects to be funded on 19 April 2022. Read more
