Cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical research in Helsinki

The social services and health care sector of the City of Helsinki allows its personnel to perform clinical drug trials in its units. The large population, the number of patients and the varied service points of primary health care and psychiatry offer good possibilities for research into endemic diseases and drug treatment of the elderly.

Clinical Research Institute Helsinki University Central Hospital Ltd. as a partner

The City of Helsinki has signed a framework agreement with the Clinical Research Institute Helsinki University Central Hospital Ltd. for the management of clinical drug trials. The framework agreement was signed on 18 April 2017 (link to the media bulletin).

Clinical Research Institute Helsinki University Central Hospital Ltd.

  • provides administrative services for clinical research carried out in the City units;

  • concludes contracts with pharmaceutical companies;

  • hires physicians and study nurses for the research period.

Participation in the pharmaceutical research is voluntary for clients and patients.

Research Cooperation as part of the Health Capital Helsinki alliance

The life science and health technology hub Health Capital Helsinki is an alliance formed by the City of Helsinki, the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and HUS Helsinki University Hospital, developing a research based innovation and business ecosystem. The aim is to promote the capital region and Finland, and to make it the leading Nordic region for research, development and business.
