Six coronavirus infections have been found in the Laajasalo service house

Four residents at the Laajasalo service house have been tested positive for coronavirus. The first infection was found 21.11. Two of the employees were also tested positive. According to the estimate by epidemiologic operations, eight residents and two employees might have been exposed to the coronavirus.

All of the diagnosed infections of the residents were found in the same unit. All residents and employees of the unit will be tested.

- The source of the infection is still unknown, but we are tracing it at the moment. We would still like to remind that it’s very important that we all carefully follow the protective measures when we visit the elderly, says the Chief Physician of the epidemiologic operations, Sanna Isosomppi.

As a safety measure, all residents are treated in quarantine-like conditions. The residents are treated in their own rooms, and nurses follow safety precautions to prevent droplet infection and touching. The relatives have been informed about the situation.

Visits at the unit at not possible at the moment. The relatives can, however, be in contact with their close ones e.g. by phone.
