The paving work will start at the beginning of May and continue throughout the summer. Before the paving work begins, street signs instructing people to move their vehicles will be posted so that there are no parked cars on the street during the work. At the start of the work, the old asphalt will be milled, after which the streets will be repaved and new road markings added.
The aim is to complete the work at each location in about two weeks. However, weather and possible machine breakdowns can increase the time required for the work. Detours will be marked with signs. When possible, future construction work will also be taken into account when paving the streets.
The city regularly measures the condition of the main streets. On the basis of the data, a repaving programme is drawn up annually. The repaving work is then implemented according to this programme.
The programme will be specified during the paving period. The repaving programme includes the asphalting and paving of roadways and pedestrian and cycling lanes.
The sites are also marked in the Helsinki Map Service (Link leads to external service)later in May. As the listing is preliminary, some of the streets listed below may later be excluded from the list of streets to be paved.
