Musicians from the orchestra will perform at twelve local libraries over four weeks. The concert Ein Wiener Gruß conveys greetings from Vienna with horn quartet music, Cinema Paradiso features iconic music from the movies, and Melodic Examples of the Classical Sonata Form demonstrates why Schubert's String Quintet in C major is considered a masterpiece of chamber music. In this concert Special Requests, meanwhile, the programme is decided by the audience.
The roughly half-hour concerts begin in the libraries at noon or 6pm, and admission is free of charge. This is the fifth year of The Philharmonic at the Library tour.
