In spring 2022, the libraries of Helsinki will host performances consisting of comic mime numbers. The Helsinki-based dance and mime theatre Auraco’s HELMIME tour will visit seven libraries in Helsinki between March and May. The mime events are free of charge, and the non-verbal works do not require language skills from the spectators. The performances are suitable for all ages.

Mime is a non-verbal and diverse art form that is experiencing a new boom. Mime artists create stories and moods through movement, gestures and pauses. Mime numbers describe joys of everyday life, happy moments and blunders – sometimes things get more than a little mixed up. Mime relies on the power of imagination of both the performers and the spectators.

On the library tour, the spectators can not only experience mime performances, but also speak with the artists. After the performances, there will be an audience discussion, where spectators will have the opportunity to ask about the mime or comment on what they saw. The performers and the spectators can also try a mime technique together.
