Want to start a new hobby or learn a new skill in the autumn? Helsinki Adult Education Centres’ autumn programme is now announced. The centres offer a wide range of affordable courses for adult learners despite one’s Finnish or Swedish skills – everyone is welcome!
The autumn terms of Helsinki Adult Education Centres, the Finnish-language Helsingin työväenopisto and Swedish-language Helsingfors arbis are once again filled with thousands of exciting courses, hundreds of lectures and dozens of events. What is more, a wide range of courses are organised in English or other languages. If your goal is to learn about the Finnish culture or the national languages Finnish and Swedish, the Adult Education Centres’ language courses are a great option for you.
A large number of old favourites are on offer, but there is also room for new ones in the course selection. The range of themes and topics of the courses vary from IT to arts and crafts and from music to languages, and everything in between. Explore the courses in advance and mark your favourites to make the upcoming registration easier on the ilmonet.fi service (opens in a new tab)(Link leads to external service).
Registration starts in August
Registration to courses will be staggered over three consecutive days between Monday 8 August at 10.00 am and Wednesday 10 August. If there are free places left on a course, you can register until the end of the autumn term. The most popular courses sell out fast, so registration on the day the course becomes available is recommended.
Register online at ilmonet.fi (opens in a new tab)(Link leads to external service), by telephone or at any of the customer service points listed below. For online registration, you need a Finnish personal identity code and an address in Finland. If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code, you can register to all courses by visiting one of our customer service points or by telephone.
Course descriptions and lecture information will be available at ilmonet.fi. PDF versions of the guides will be published on the adult education centres’ websites at the end of June.
The printed study guide for both centres will be published at the beginning of August. Guides will be in Finnish and Swedish. You can get a copy at the adult education centres and Helsinki libraries.
