Helsinki facilitates meetings between unemployed jobseekers and event industry employers

Helsinki is a city of events. Thousands of events are organised in the city every year, many of which require more and more employees. The City of Helsinki wants to better connect event industry employers and jobseekers in Helsinki. This is why the City of Helsinki has launched the new Good Jobs at Events! service. There are currently around 46,000 jobseekers in the local government pilot on employment in Helsinki, and events may be a path towards a more stable working life for some of them.

Through the new service, employers in the event industry can find assigned employees for various job descriptions. It is also possible to receive pay subsidy for employment and support for employee training and induction. The Good Jobs at Events! service provides companies and organisations in the event industry with opportunities for building more effective and agile events, financially supported recruitment and responsible employment of future professionals.

“With the help of
the service, we want to create more diverse and effective ways of finding
employment and providing unemployed jobseekers with jobs at events. Employers
can use the service to find skilled employees. For jobseekers, it can serve as
a stepping stone to working life. The goal is to promote socially sustainable
employment, enable meaningful work experience for future professionals and help
unemployed jobseekers find long-term employment and become engaged in working life
through work experience,” says Mikko von
Hertzen, who coordinates the service.

Helsinki employment services support employers and employees throughout the service

The City of Helsinki employment services coordinate the service and support employers and employees at all stages of the employment process. Employment services experts are involved in helping employers to find the right employees for the wide range of short-term and longer-term jobs in the event industry. In cooperation with partners providing training, the employment services also support employers in training employees according to the event type and job description. When employers use the service to recruit employees looking for their first work experience or seeking new career paths, the employers receive the necessary tailored support to ensure successful cooperation and events.

The Good Jobs at Events! service is intended for jobseekers in the event industry and for employers who wish to promote social sustainability and responsible employment in the event industry and are looking for short-term workforce or longer-term employees. The event industry employers can be, for example, event producers or organisers or subcontractors offering services for events. The service is intended for private, public and third-sector organisations alike.
