Juha Jolkkonen appointed Executive Director of Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division

At its meeting on 1 November, the City Council decided to appoint Juha Jolkkonen, Licentiate of Medicine, as Executive Director of the City of Helsinki Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division for a fixed term of seven years.

Juha Jolkkonen’s new term will begin on 20 December 2023. Since 2016, Jolkkonen has served as Executive Director of the City of Helsinki Social Services and Health Care Division. For the last year, he has served as Executive Director of the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division. 

Before this, Jolkkonen held the posts of Head of Department and Head of Hospital, Rehabilitation and Care Services at the City of Helsinki Department of Social Services and Health Care. He has also worked as director and head of service unit at the City of Vantaa services for older people and people with disabilities and served as a medical expert at Novartis Finland Oy.

Juha Jolkkonen’s strengths include his substantial knowledge of the City of Helsinki Social Services and Health Care Division and solid experience of various managerial positions extending 20 years. He has played a key role in implementing the social services, health care and rescue services organisational reform and the related changes in the City of Helsinki. 

The Executive Director of the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division is the supervisor of the administrative director of the division and the directors of the service units included in the division.
