From Friday 24 May 2024, Kannelmäki Health Station will serve clients at a new location next to Kannelmäki Railway Station, at Kaustisenpolku 6A. The health station will continue to serve customers as usual at the Laulukuja address until 16.00 on Thursday 23 May.
Kannelmäki Health Station will continue to offer the same health services as before. The service provider will be Mehiläinen, and clients will be served by Mehiläinen staff. Clients will remain clients of the Helsinki health stations. The health station’s telephone number will remain unchanged.
“We want to continue to provide Kannelmäki Health Station’s clients with uninterrupted and undisturbed access to health care services even as we implement the change in service provider,” says Timo Lukkarinen, Medical Director of Health Stations at the City of Helsinki.
“Clients do not need to contact Kannelmäki Health Station due to the change. The next time they need the health station’s services, they can contact us as usual. If a client needs to visit the health station in person, they will just have to remember to make their way to the new address,” Lukkarinen adds.
“We continuously and actively develop Helsinki’s health stations. Collaborating with private service providers gives us opportunities to learn new things and to improve our operations,” says Leena Turpeinen, Director of Health and Substance Abuse Services.
“I believe that our collaboration with Mehiläinen will get to a good start also at Kannelmäki. We already collaborate at Ruoholahti Health Station,” Turpeinen continues.
The contract between Kannelmäki Health Station and Mehiläinen will run until 23 May 2028. The City of Helsinki will have the option to extend the contract by one or two years without the need to re-tender.
“One of Mehiläinen’s key aims is to promote quality and customer-centred health and social services. We will do everything we can to meet the healthcare needs of Kannelmäki residents,” says Henri Ärölä, physician-in-charge at Kannelmäki Health Station.
“We greatly appreciate the trust shown towards Mehiläinen and look forward to working with the City of Helsinki and local residents over the coming years – together we can build a healthier future for all,” says Joonas Turunen, Business Unit Director of Primary Healthcare at Mehiläinen.
The City of Helsinki had to terminate the contract with the previous service provider due to contractual reasons in May 2023. A call for tenders was opened in the autumn, with the new service provider selected in the spring of 2024.
