Vaccinations in schools have been completed for now. More than 10,000 Helsinki children and young people aged 12–15-years-old were vaccinated between 12–23 August. 74% of 12–15-year-olds have now been vaccinated either at school or at vaccination points.

Booster shots will also be administered to 12–15-year-olds at the schools after 8–12 weeks. More specific dates will be announced via Wilma closer to the time of the vaccinations.

In the future, 12–15-year-olds will receive COVID-19 vaccinations at vaccination points and pop-up points. The first COVID-19 vaccination dose can be obtained from vaccination points or pop-up points without an appointment. You can also book appointments at vaccination points via bookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service) or by calling the appointment number 09 310 46300 (weekdays 8:00–18:00)

“It’s really great that schoolchildren have been actively taking vaccinations. I further encourage those who are still considering taking the vaccine to receive it. It is easily possible and even without an appointment”, says Medical Director of health stations Timo Lukkarinen.

“As expected, vaccinations in schools has proven to be a good way to reach children and young people. When the vaccine was given during the school day, it was easy and trouble-free to take. The vaccine is also easy to get from vaccination points and pop-up points, and we will increase the number of pop-up points even further in the future”, states Lukkarinen.

“We are also currently planning vaccination days for upper secondary schools. Upper secondary students have already done well in vaccinations, but we will offer those who have not yet been vaccinated an easy vaccination opportunity. We will provide more information on this later”, Lukkarinen adds.

At the moment, approximately 500,000 Helsinki residents have received their first vaccine dose. To date, the second dose has been administered to more than 330,000 residents.
