Organise an environmental clean-up event – the city provides the tools

The spring has revealed a lot of unsightly rubbish from under the snow. The City of Helsinki wants to support the voluntary collection of rubbish and environmental clean-up events organised by the residents.

Residents can organise volunteer events to clean up waste from the city’s public areas, i.e. forests, roadsides, parks and beaches. Cleaning private plots and yard areas is not part of the voluntary cleaning events.

The idea is to collect non-natural waste, not organic material such as leaves and twigs. Volunteers are provided with litter pickers and refuse sacks.

If you want to organise an event, notify us about it no later than one week before the scheduled date. Organise the event safely, considering the coronavirus situation and the associated restrictions.
