City of Helsinki student welfare will be adopting the Apotti client information system on 7 January 2025. Information on pupils’ and students’ visits with the school welfare officer and psychologist and the information concerning them recorded in Apotti will be found in the Maisa service. Record entries made by psychologists will also be displayed in the MyKanta service – record entries made by school welfare officers will be transferred to MyKanta later on.
City of Helsinki student welfare psychologists and school welfare officers will be adopting the Apotti client information system on 7 January 2025, which is already being used by the other social welfare and health services of the City.
Apotti will be introduced in the school welfare officer and psychologist services of pre-primary education, comprehensive schools, general upper secondary schools and Stadin AO of the City of Helsinki along with the private and state schools and educational institutions whose student welfare is arranged by the City.
Information on pupils’ and students’ visits with the school welfare officer and psychologist and the information concerning them recorded in Apotti will be found in the Maisa service (maisa.fi(Link leads to external service)). Record entries made by psychologists will also be displayed in MyKanta (kanta.fi/en/mykanta(Link leads to external service)). Record entries made by school welfare officers will not be displayed in MyKanta by 1 September 2026 at the latest.
Use your Finnish online banking credentials or mobile certificate to log in to Maisa and MyKanta. Pupils and students will be able to view entries concerning them in Maisa and MyKanta. Guardians will be able to view all entries concerning their children under the age of 12. Any entries concerning children over the age of 12 will only be visible to guardians if the child has consented to the entries being shared with the guardian.
The records of school welfare officers and psychologists are always separate. Psychologists cannot read entries made by school welfare officers and school welfare officers cannot read entries made by psychologists without special reason or permission from the client.
Student welfare services in schools and educational institutions will only be minimally affected by the adoption of the Apotti system in the early stages of the switchover. In early January you may have to wait longer than normal to see a school welfare officer or psychologist.
The reason for the change is the Client Data Act, which obliges social welfare and health care operators to store the data in the national Kanta.fi service.
