See the exhibition on the streets of the future and share your experience of the Esplanadi street experiment

New extended walking, sitting and cycling areas were opened on Esplanadi in June. In September, two events related to the Esplanadi street experiment will be held as part of Helsinki Design Week. A workshop, open to all, will gather experiences and feedback on the street experiment, and report on the design solutions that have been implemented. The exhibition will present the design and planning process of the Esplanadi street experiment. Welcome!

Workshop open to all

The Esplanadi street experiment is full of surprising details, each one carefully considered. The workshop will be open to all, give you the chance to share your ideas on how things should be done and contribute to the development of the streets. In this workshop, we will further refine the Esplanadi experiment for 2024.

The workshop will take place at Sofia Helsinki Lyhtysali, Sofiankatu 4 C on Friday 8 September from 16.00 to 18.00. You are free to drop in whenever it suits you, and no pre-registration is required.  Link to additional event information (in Finnish).(Link leads to external service)

‘Visions of the streets of the future’ exhibition

How should a street of the future be shaped? How can design be used to make a city more appealing? What do urban designers do? This exhibition presenting the Esplanadi experiment will explore the new look of the streets and the story behind the design solutions.

In addition to the Esplanadi street experiment, the exhibition will feature new signage models for the Helsinki city centre. Come and see how design helps to create safe and accessible streets for all, and give us your views on signage.

The exhibition will be open on the Espa stage 13–15 September from 12.00 to 18.00.
