Staff at Laakso and Malmi coronavirus treatment hubs and hospital locations will be provided with their own parking lots starting 30 March.
The City of Helsinki has introduced special parking arrangements to ease the movement of social and health care professionals.
New parking arrangements have already been taken into use at the Laakso and Malmi coronavirus treatment hubs, and starting on 30 March, similar arrangements will be introduced at Helsinki’s Aurora Hospital, Kivelä Senior Home and Kalasatama health care centre locations.
More parking will also be established near metropolitan area hospital network HUS hospitals located in the neighbourhoods of Meilahti, Töölö and Kaartinkaupunki.
Municipal officials will create the new parking areas by temporarily taking public squares, market squares and sports fields into use. Some of the spaces in question have been used for this purpose in the past, for example, in winters with lots of snowfall.
Clear signage will mark the areas as reserved for health care employees until further notice. The city is prepared to add even more parking capacity, should it become necessary.
