Stansvik Manor in need of lessee – route construction in area delayed

Stansvik Manor in need of lessee – route construction in area delayed.

The City of Helsinki is seeking a long-term lessee for Stansvik Manor in Laajasalo. The complex being leased out consists of 11 buildings: the main building completed in the early 19th century, a 100-seat restaurant completed in 1960, four accommodation buildings, a maintenance building, a sauna and various storage buildings.

The buildings are well suited for purposes such as café, restaurant and accommodation operations, and for use as a venue for parties. The area is also suitable for providing maritime recreation services, as all of the buildings of the manor are located on the seashore or in its vicinity. For the most part, the buildings are only suitable for summer use.

The City’s goal is to find a lessee for the manor to provide Helsinki residents and users of the area with interesting services that are as open as possible. The future lessee will therefore be selected in a two-phase tendering process that will first involve evaluating the operations proposed for the buildings.

The City will accept ideas for future use of the manor from those interested in leasing it until 31 March 2022 at 16:00. More detailed information about the leasing is provided on the Oikotie website(Link leads to external service) (in Finnish). Those interested can also familiarise themselves with the location through the city model(Link leads to external service).

Route construction to begin next winter at the earliest

The buildings being leased out are located in Kruunuvuorenranta, in the Stansvik manor and recreation area, the cultural history and nature of which are significant to all of Helsinki. Information about Kruunuvuorenranta and construction plans for the nearby areas can be found on the Uutta Helsinkiä website(Link leads to external service).

The City of Helsinki has planned new sand-covered walking and cycling routes and parking arrangements for the Stansvik manor park and recreation area so that moving about in the area can be sustainable in the future as well. The City is also planning to renovate Stansvikintie and the surface of the path in the Vanhakylä summer hut area.

The route construction and renovation project was originally scheduled to begin in September 2021. However, the City stopped its preparations due to associations interested in the area applying for a prohibition on the work with Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre) and the Regional State Administrative Agency (AVI).

AVI is yet to give its decision on the associations’ demand as regards the Water Act. The ELY Centre rejected the associations’ demands for its part in November. The ELY Centre’s decision states that the nature values of the area have been established and taken appropriately into consideration in the plans. The associations have filed an appeal against the decision to the Administrative Court of Helsinki.

The schedule for starting the route construction and renovation project is currently uncertain as the matter is still being processed by AVI and the Administrative Court. The City is preparing to start the work next winter (2022–2023) at the earliest. The work is based on plans approved by the Urban Environment Committee.
