What is your opinion on the winter maintenance of Helsinki’s streets? Would you like to give positive or negative feedback on a specific location? The Urban Environment Division’s maintenance unit is inviting residents to take part in a survey on the quality of winter maintenance in the city. The survey is based on a map and will be open from 22 February to 14 March 2021.
The purpose of the survey is to gather information on the success of winter maintenance during the 2020–2021 winter season.
Responding will take approximately 5–10 minutes. The survey includes questions about the winter maintenance of pavements, cycling lanes and streets, as well as the outdoor recreation routes and park pathways that are cleared of snow in the winter.
‘The survey responses will be used to further develop our winter maintenance work and make comparisons with past winter seasons,’ says Project Manager Antti Takkunen.
Over a couple of days in January, Storm Toini brought a properly snowy winter to Helsinki, and within a few weeks, the city’s feedback service had received thousands of messages, most of them concerning streets that were waiting to be cleared. During February, the city’s streets have been freed from snow, and people can once again move around as normal. So far this winter, more than 80,000 loads of snow have been delivered to the city’s snow reception sites. This far exceeds the amount of snow in an ordinary year.
