Helsinki interrupts vaccinations with the
AstraZeneca vaccine for a week, until 28.3.2021, in accordance with THL’s
instructions. We will contact those who have booked a vaccination appointment
and move their appointment.

THL’s decision to interrupt vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine means that vaccinations of Helsinkians between the ages of 18 and 69 with illnesses and conditions that make them very strongly susceptible to a severe coronavirus infection are paused.

Already booked appointments are moved. Clients don’t need to change appointments; we will contact everyone individually.

Instructions for those vaccinated with the
AstraZeneca vaccine

According to THL, the exceptional symptoms that have been observed after some vaccinations are very rare. Currently there is no certainty as to whether the observed coagulation disorders are related to the vaccine.

As a precautionary measure, those receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine are advised to monitor for abnormally severe symptoms, which can begin at the earliest three days after vaccination. Seek treatment immediately if you experience a severe and continually worsening headache or very severe bruising of the skin or mucous membranes.

The Medical Helpline, tel. 116 117, serves Helsinkians 24 hours a day.
