DataLokki – Helsinki Destination Insights as a knowledge-based management tool for Helsinki Travel and Tourism
The City of Helsinki wants to support the development of tourism and events with DataLokki – Helsinki Destination Insights, a knowledge-based management software platform. The software platform collects tourism and event-related data into a single software entity where the information is visualised in dashboards. This makes the information widely usable and shareable, both within the city and with other tourist regions, businesses and stakeholders. Information from the software platform is also used for the decision-making and development of the city’s operations. In addition, it supports the different actors’ development of skills as well as advancing their product development and business. The City of Helsinki has chosen Tridea Oy(Link leads to external service) (website in Finnish) as the development partner for the platform.

Case example of the use of DataLokki: Helsinki tourist information service
The resourcing and shift scheduling of the tourist information service is quite a puzzle, which DataLokki can help put together with its collected statistics and data. When the recruitment process begins in spring, we carefully examine the event, cruise and flight data of the upcoming summer so that we can hire people who know the right languages to work at the right time. The data collected by the tourist information service, on the other hand, helps us plan employee trainings so that our employees can be familiarised with the exact matters that tourists ask us about in different service channels. For shift scheduling and the manning of shifts, we use also use statistics and data – in order to have the right kind of and correctly sized resource of employees at the right time to meet tourists.
