Review the terms of studying

  • If you are studying full-time, you should agree on studying in your employment plan together with our specialist.
  • For the duration of your studies, you should primarily apply for student financial aid. Our specialist will help you find out if you can study while receiving the unemployment benefit.

What can I study as a jobseeker?

We cooperate extensively with different educational institutions. We provide short-term training promoting employment:

  • permit training (alcohol passport, hygiene passport, first aid card, hot work card, occupational safety card, etc.).
  • field-specific short-term training.
  • supplementary training.
  • competence analyses and preparatory training.
  • labour market training.

You can find training leading to a qualification in the Opintopolku.fi service(Link leads to external service)

When can unemployment benefits not be used for studying?

  • The unemployment benefit is not intended as support for full-time studies. The student financial aid system exists for this purpose.
  • Unemployment benefits can only be paid for the duration of studies that support finding employment quickly.
  • The training must promote employment. The employment services will assess whether the training improves your conditions for finding employment, develops your skills and enables you to find a job.
