Apply for labour market training

In labour market training, you can develop your professional skills and promote your employment.

Employment Services will plan and implement labour market training together with the educational institution organising the training. Employers may also participate in the organisation of labour market training.

Labour market training may be

- training to increase professional competence and readiness
- training to increase entrepreneurial preparedness
- integration training.

Labour market training is free of charge for you. However, card and permit training can be subject to a fee.

You are eligible for unemployment benefits during labour market training similarly to when you are a jobseeker. If you have agreed on vocational labour market training in the employment plan or other plan, you may be eligible for increased unemployment benefits. The payer, i.e. the unemployment fund or Kela, decides whether to pay the increase or not.

If participation in the training entails costs, you may be reimbursed for the duration of the participation. If you are not reimbursed for costs by the payer, i.e. the unemployment fund or Kela, you may apply for discretionary expenses from the Employment Services.
