Surface structures of roadways on the Pohjoisesplanadi street between Kluuvikatu and Mikonkatu will be renewed starting from the support layer. The work will involve correcting depressions on the roadway caused by traffic over time and improving the levelling of the street. At the same time, the temporary structures that were part of the Esplanadi street’s pedestrian area’s extension experiment will be dismantled from the area. Work will begin at the turn of September/October in week 40.
The renewed surface structure will be restored to its original appearance, and the paving stones on the street will be reinstalled. The work has been designed in cooperation with the Helsinki City Museum.
Street traffic will not be interrupted, but you can drive past the construction site. However, the work may cause temporary traffic problems for those moving in and visiting the area.
The Esplanadi experimental area will be dismantled as planned during the autumn
The Esplanadi experimental area was planned for two years and will end this autumn. Dismantling of the experimental structures will begin in October. More detailed planning of the implementation of the work is still ongoing, but the dismantling will probably start from Eteläesplanadi street in the direction of the Helsinki Market Square. The aim is to complete the dismantling by the end of the year.
Some of the fitting in the experimental areas will be transferred directly to other locations in the city and some will be stored for future projects.
The contractor for this project is Stara.
