New signage for Töölö ball fields – tell us what you think!

The Töölö ball fields (Töölön pallokentät) are a historical area consisting of several multi-purpose sports fields that are open all year round, where people have been playing football since 1915. To make the area an even more appealing recreational venue, the City of Helsinki wants to update the signage of the ball fields to make it more user-friendly and better aligned with contemporary needs.

The Töölö ball fields include field areas and shared changing rooms. The signage in the area communicates to visitors what the area includes, where the services in the area (fields, toilets, etc.) are located and what kind of common rules and instructions visitors need to observe.

The aim of the new signage is to ensure a clear and pleasant visitor experience for the various user groups of the Töölö ball fields: players who use the fields on a weekly basis, recreational users, tourists visiting the area and new visitors from elsewhere. The area also includes the Töölö football stadium and Olympic Stadium, but the signage of these buildings is not part of this update.

The planning of the new signage for the ball fields has now reached a stage at which city residents can give feedback on the designs. The City has narrowed down the design of the signage to two visually distinct options, one of which will be implemented at Töölö ball field. The service design office Kuudes will be responsible for the new sign design.

The survey is open from 2 to 16 November 2023. Those who respond to the survey and leave their contact information will be entered into a prize draw for three serial tickets of 10 sessions each usable at outdoor and indoor swimming pools and sports halls in Helsinki.
