Kaarina Gould, CEO of The Foundation for the Finnish Museum of Architecture and Design and member of the jury said:
- The first stage of the competition closed last night, and already at this point we would like to warmly thank all participants. On September 12 we will be able to share the number of approved entries, and publish an online gallery with the main views of these designs. The jury will begin their work immediately with the momentous task of assessing proposals from around the world on what the new home for architecture and design in Helsinki’s South Harbor could look like.
The jury will announce its selection of entries for the second stage in December 2024. The competition results will be announced in September 2025. The new museum of architecture and design in Helsinki, Finland, is planned to open in 2030, bringing together the collections and organizations of the Museum of Finnish Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki.
The design competition is organized by the Real Estate Company ADM, owned by the City of Helsinki and the State of Finland, and the Foundation for the Finnish Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with the City of Helsinki and the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA). Strategic partners for the museum project are DVDL Cultural Planners (New York) and Haahtela Group.
