On the first Sunday of November, the traditional raking event will be held in Kaivopuisto, where all residents are welcome to rake leaves.
Volunteer work will start at the Kaivopuisto square, where volunteers are requested to gather at 11. Volunteer work will end at 15, but people are also welcome to attend for a shorter duration.
Volunteer will receive guidance and instructions on-site. The city will provide the necessary tools, but it is a good idea to take your own work gloves. Snacks and warm drinks will be available for the first 150 volunteer workers.
20 years of volunteer work
The common volunteer raking of Kaivopuisto is a decades-old tradition in the City of Helsinki, providing an enjoyable get-together and joint activity for residents.
"In recent years, we have had about a hundred residents who want to do their part for the environment – people want to take care of their beloved Kaivopuisto. Along with raking, participants experience the joy of outdoor activities and exchange information with other volunteers," says volunteer work coordinator Armi Koskela from the City of Helsinki.
The volunteer work will be arranged in cooperation with the Urban Environment Division and the city’s construction services municipal enterprise Stara.
