The large multi-level platform is also suitable for groups

Completed in 2023, the viewing platform is open for anyone who wants to observe nature. The spacious platform can accommodate about 50 people at the same time. From the stage, you can see waders and waterfowl in the shoreline slurries and coastal meadow closer than from the adjacent Hakala birdwatching tower. The platform also offers a good view of the heron and cormorant colony on the island of Loppi.

Sight a flying bream

In spring, you can hear the yellowhammer and see stock doves near the platform as they fly from the fields of Viikki to their nesting grounds on Loppi and Lammassaari. In late summer and early autumn, the doves sit in large flocks on the power line.

The osprey fly over the shallows in front of Mölylä and fish silvery breams from the sea with their claws. The nearest osprey nests are on the east side of the city, about a mile away. You can also see forest deer from the platform. They often walk in front of the stage, passing the reeds on their way to Loppi.

Arrival at the Hakala viewing stage

The nearest bus stops and express tram stop (Koetilantie stop, Viikintie 49) are located along Viikintie. Walk to the Keinumäki birdwatching tower along Hakalantie and Hakalanniementie. You can also arrive by the hiking trail next to the wetlands of Säynäslahdenpuro (Viikintie 40). A parking space can be found at Koetilantie 1. The Hakalanniemi viewing platform is approximately 1.5 km from Viikintie by foot.
