Boating season just around the corner – berths still available in Helsinki’s boat harbours

Seaside Helsinki offers excellent opportunities for boating. Luckily, the City of Helsinki is still accepting applications for boat berths for rent at venepaikat.hel.fi. At present, there are still berths available, especially in eastern Helsinki and the Ramsaynranta boat harbour. You can also apply to switch your current boat berth for another one at venepaikat.hel.fi.

“It is a somewhat common misconception that all of the City of Helsinki's boat berths are always full and there is no point in applying for them in the spring. However, there are currently boat berths of different sizes available in the Puotila, Meri-Rastila, Iso-Sarvasto and Ramsaynranta boat harbours, for example, all of which offer comprehensive harbour services, including electricity, water, waste management, gates and lighting. There are still boat berths available at Pursilahden allas as well,” lists Head of Recreation Services Stefan Fröberg from the City of Helsinki Sports Services.

“Another misconception rooted in the past is that the boat berths are more expensive for non-residents of Helsinki. This is not the case, as the prices of our boat berths are the same for everyone. I could imagine that the boat berths available in eastern Helsinki are of interest to boaters in Vantaa, for example. The boat berths in eastern Helsinki also offer better parking options for cars than the ones in other parts of Helsinki,” Fröberg continues.

The City of Helsinki’s boat berths are divided into three different price categories. The price is affected by the size of the berth and the services available in the harbour. The berth rent is paid once a year.
