The new nature reserve will be located to the north of Vuosaari Harbour and it will border on Porvarinlahti. It will include part of the water area of Porvarinlahti and most of the forest area between the harbour and the shore. A management and utilisation plan is currently being prepared for the area.

Porvarinlahti is part of the national programme for the protection of bird water areas and the Natura 2000 area of Mustavuori herb-rich forest and Östersundom bird water areas.

The Environment and Permits Sub-Committee of the Urban Environment Committee will consider the conservation proposal in its meeting on 21 November.
