City of Helsinki participates with the Helsinki Police Department in the Nordic Safe Cities network’s Safe City Tour theme week from 8 to 12 February. During the week, the city's channels will feature theme videos and web article, which focus on, for example, general safety and pre-emptive youth work and the prevention of segregation between housing areas and violent extremism.
Nordic Safe Cities (NSC) is a non-profit Nordic security network established by the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2016. NSC works to improve the safety and security in cities and to fight off conflicts and confrontation. Helsinki has participated in the network's activities since its inception.
Helsinki strives to find new ways of tackling problems related to security and in that work, the collaboration with other cities holds a key role. In addition to NSC, Helsinki engages in active co-operation with several international, security-related networks, such as Strong Cities(Link leads to external service), Efus(Link leads to external service) and UN Habitat(Link leads to external service).
