An amendment to the local detailed plan is being launched for the surroundings of the Kannelmäki station, with the aim of turning the railway area into a street and square area. In addition, the aim is to find out whether it is possible to dismantle the Kannelmäki station building and the ramp leading from the station bridge to Kanneltalo. The idea with the possible dismantling of the ramp is to replace it with new square and street space. This requires an amendment to the local detailed plan. By transforming the railway area into a street and square area, the area’s planning and maintenance responsibilities will also be clarified. The area is owned by the city.
In connection with the renovation of the Kannelmäki train station, new stairs and canopies will be added, and coatings will be replaced.
