The previous service provider was unable to recruit the number of specialists in general medicine to work at the health station that it had specified in its bid. The contract was fulfilled in all other aspects and the collaboration worked well.
Preparations for re-tendering the Kannelmäki Health Station services were started after the previous contract was terminated in summer 2023. Three bids were received, two of which did not meet the tender requirements.
The decision to award the contract enters into force after two weeks of the date of its issue. After this, we will start planning the Kannelmäki Health Station services with the new contract partner.
Mehiläinen will take over the health station services on 24 May 2024 at the latest.
The contract period with Mehiläinen ends on 23 May 2028. Helsinki has the option to extend the period one or two years without initiating a new tendering process.
Services in Kannelmäki continue as usual
Kannelmäki Health Station will serve its clients as usual regardless of the change in service providers.
“Regardless of any changes, clients from Kannelmäki will continue to be served by Helsinki’s health stations, receiving the same services available at other health stations throughout the city”, says Timo Lukkarinen, Medical Director of Health Stations in Helsinki.
Service production will be transferred to the new service provider as seamlessly as possible. Any potential changes will be promptly and clearly communicated to the clients of the health station and the local residents.
