Helsinki’s much-loved MyHelsinki website has been given a fresh and fun update. Launched in late January, the latest version of the site features many new components designed to enhance people’s user experience. The new MyHelsinki now an even better platform for anyone interested in learning more about Finland’s pioneering capital.

Reflecting the city of Helsinki’s commitment to digital innovation, the updated MyHelsinki website features a fresh and modern design that has been heavily inspired by the city’s existing brand. It has been crafted to appeal to users and make Helsinki stand out and shine in the international arena.

The website also unites the audiences of two previous websites, the first iteration of MyHelsinki.fi and HelsinkiPartners.com, bringing them together on a single cohesive platform. The new MyHelsinki seeks to position Helsinki as a desirable destination for living, working, and investing, while reinforcing the city’s reputation as a hub for sustainability and innovation.

Helsinki Partners, the company that owns and manages MyHelsinki, is a city marketing, investment and talent attraction company owned by the City of Helsinki.

“Our update of the MyHelsinki website provides our users with a future-proof experience. By creating a positive emotional connection and motivation to engage with the city, we help people from around the world to find their happy place in Helsinki,” says Jenny Taipale, Helsinki Partner’s Head of Marketing.

A more personalised and inspiring user experience

The new MyHelsinki website includes several innovative elements, including a revamped event calendar and an interactive map that allows users to filter content based on their preferences. An AI assistant allows for optimal personalisation, as it can suggest activities, creating itineraries, and offer tailored recommendations. An entertaining "Helflix" feature brings a Netflix-inspired experience to navigating Helsinki’s highlights, offering users an intuitive and engaging way to explore the city.

“The new version of MyHelsinki continues to be the best ‘elevator pitch’ that Finland's capital has for inspiring and attracting international visitors, talent, and sustainable business opportunities. With its overarching message of happiness, the website is a terrific ambassador for Finland on the global stage,” says Nina Vesterinen, Tourism Director for the City of Helsinki.

Highlights from the capital of happiness

The core message of the new MyHelsinki website is “Welcome to your happy place”, a phrase that refers to the amazing fact that Finland has been named the Happiest Country in the World for seven consecutive years.

It calls attention to the capital of Finland’s special blend of happiness, inclusivity, and sustainability and invites users to come to Helsinki and discover their own version of happiness in the city. Content focuses on many of the city’s special characteristics: nature at your doorstep, the changes in season and, most importantly, a harmonious work-life balance. By weaving these themes into the user experience, MyHelsinki 2.0 positions Helsinki as a city where everyone can belong and thrive.

It inspires engagement by highlighting Helsinki’s diverse offering through dynamic and tailored content. Whether users are planning a visit, considering relocation, or exploring business opportunities, the platform ensures a personalised and inspiring journey. It emphasises emotional connections, helping users envision how Helsinki aligns with their aspirations.

The MyHelsinki website’s primary language is English, as its target audience is mainly the world outside of Finland’s borders. Popular content for visitors remains available in Finnish, and the new Swedish-language version of this section will also soon be published.
