Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki 2024 has been published

The Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki provides a varied, statistics-based description of Helsinki and its residents for 2023. In addition, the Yearbook also presents information on the Helsinki metropolitan area, the Helsinki region, Finland, major Nordic cities and the Baltic countries and capitals.

The Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki is now published for the 112th time. All 241 statistical tables in the Yearbook are also published as open data in the Helsinki Region Infoshare service(Link leads to external service) . All statistics published in yearbooks since 2002 can be found through the same service. 

Older statistical yearbooks published between 1905 and 2008 can also be read in digital form via the Sinetti archive information system(Link leads to external service)

The Statistical Yearbook 2024 tells the following about Helsinki and the people of Helsinki:

  • In 2023, there were 394,373 residential apartments in Helsinki. Of these, 92,324 were studio apartments.
  • In 2023, 394,416 people had valid driving licenses in Helsinki. Of these, 190,186 were women.
  • In 2023, the City of Helsinki had a total of 137 trams. In 2010, there were 93 trams.
  • At the end of 2023, the City of Helsinki's payrolls had a total of 37,559 employees. The largest division was Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division, which had a total of 14,912 employees on its payroll.
  • In 2022, there were a total of 81,151 companies in Helsinki with a total turnover of EUR 112,082,491 million.
