In Helsinki, the school year of the Finnish- and Swedish-language lower secondary and general upper secondary schools ends on Saturday 1 June and new general upper secondary school graduates are celebrated on the same day. The pre-primary education school year ends on Friday 31 May.

The Helsinki General Upper Secondary School for Adults spring term ends on Friday 31 May. The last day of studies in the Swedish-language adult general upper secondary school at Tölö Gymnasium is Thursday 30 May. The graduation ceremony at Helsinki Vocational College and Adult Institute will be held on Friday 7 June. The graduation ceremony for preparatory education for an upper secondary qualification (TUVA) will be held on Friday 31 May.
Names of new graduates published
This spring, a total of 2,037 new graduates will graduate from the general upper secondary schools of Helsinki. It is possible to graduate from Helsinki Vocational College and Adult Institute throughout the year. The number of graduates is around 2,600 this spring.
The general upper secondary schools of the City of Helsinki have announced the names of new graduates on their websites. Only the names of new graduates who have not prohibited the publishing of their name are published.
Service Information during the summer
The Education Division's advisory services are available according to normal opening hours in June: Mon–Fri at 10–12 and 13–15 by telephone, email and via the feedback system as well as Tue and Thu at 10–12 and 13–15 in person at the office at Työpajankatu 8.
In July, the in-person service at the office is closed, but we are available by phone, email and the feedback system Mon–Fri at 10–12 and 13–15. From the beginning of August, our services will return to normal.
School year to begin in August
After the summer holiday, school work will begin on Thursday 8 August in the Finnish- and Swedish-language comprehensive schools and general upper secondary schools of the City of Helsinki. The autumn term of the Konepaja Upper Secondary School for Adults will start on Monday 5 August, and the Tölö Gymnasium Adult General Upper Secondary School will start on Monday 26 August.
Students admitted to Helsinki Vocational College and Adult Institute (Stadin AO) in the joint application system and continued admission in the spring will start their studies on Tuesday 6 August. TUVA students will start their school year on Thursday 8 August. The school work of students resuming their studies will advance according to their respective personal competence development plans.
